Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

(12oz bottle) Medium white head atop cloudy apple cider body. Aroma is medium sweet, blackberry, some raspberry, sugar, tartness. Taste is medium sweet, seltzer, some blackberry, lightly tart. Light-medium body, some creaminess, light acidity.

Bottle at a friends barbecue: Pours a hazy golden with an off whtie film of head. Very perfumy and artificial berry aroma- smells like scented markers- has some odd waxy phenols as well. Fizzy, perfumy, artificial, just pretty awful overall with a chemical-like berry note. This is a fruit beer with no natural flavors, nor discerning enjoyable base beer qualities. Yuck.

Pours hazy orange. Aroma of blackberries and some wheat. Stronger blackberry flavor than I would have thought, but still decent. Mild and sweet, decent summer brew.

Orange pour, not murky as expected. Berryish aroma, I assume it is meant to be blackberry although it seem artificial. Berryish flavor, blackberry, schnozberry. etc. Lingering schnozberries. Meh. Don’t put brewmaster on any cheap ass wit with a buttload of artificial schnozberries.

Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow/orange with a thin white head. Aroma is almost entirely sweet cooked berries, pretty 1 dimensional. Flavor is bread, berries, sugary fruit yogurt. Palate is thin but smooth. Moderate carbonation.

I have a weak spot for Blackberries they are my favorite fruit so I really like this aroma, mildly spicy with blackberries. After that the beer kind of underwhelms at least in taste as the blackberries are less pronounced. Still one of the better SA beers I have tasted in a long time.

Bottle. Hazy orange pour with a small white head. Aroma is mild and of tart berries. Blackberry flavor is surprising, like nothing ive ever had before (and I like new things) but not over the top, strong yet subtle enough to leave the beer flavor intact through the finish. This is different and not bad at all, though I dont think I would want to drink more than one.

Bottle. Body is slightly hazy deep golden yellow, thick foamy white head. Aroma is tart blackberries ans sweet/tart yeasty wheat malt.flavor starts watery then gets to dry yeasty wheat malt. The maltyness gets sweet like bubblegum and dry again but not much fruit in the flavor. The blackberry is there but pretty weak. Ok summer cookout beer.
