Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

On the pour, fresh blackberry aroma but towards the end a a stronger wheat aroma. Gold body with a white head. Flavor is more towards the Belgian witbier with the wheat as a main flavor with the blackberry in the background. With the strong aroma of blackberries on the pour was expecting more berry flavor to the beer. Ok brew.

Bottled. Poured deep orange with a dirty off white head. Aroma was blackberry, and the smell of a woman’s hair that just got a fresh perm. Flavor was slightly sweet black berry with a more pronounced blackberry aftertaste. Reminded me of the flavor of a soggy twizler that you had used as a straw to drink pop out of. Not the pop, but the used soggy licorice itself. Medium body.

Pretty awful beer. Aroma is of blackberry and something I can’t describe. Taste is of a beverage called clearly canadian, not beer

Incredibly sweet blackberry flavor almost overwhelms the spice and flavor of the wit beer. By the end of the bottle it was just too sweet for me. Almost more than I could handle by the end.

Nasty beer, I will never try this concoction from Hell again. Nasty smell, nasty taste, blackberrys and beer should never meet.
