Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Bottled. Poured slightly hazy medium golden with a nice initial cap of off-white head that receded quickly. The aroma picked up quasi-fresh blackberry puree with some orangey and wheaty accents.. some mild earthy spice accents. The flavor had a syrupy base of caramel and blackberry jam with tart blackberry seeds, orange zest, and tangy, dry wheat around.. medium-length, refreshing finish with more of the berry tartness. Lighter-bodied and dry on the palate with a bit of a scratchy flow.. decent, non-offensive brew.

(bottle). Pours a dark gold color. Medium white head which diminishes quickly. Light tart berry aroma and flavor. Avg duration. Slick texture. Slightly astringent. Soft carbonation.

#5 of 5 in my fruit beer tasting. 12oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a fantastic dense rich frothy off-white pillowing foam on top and nice lacing. Some delicate refreshing blackberry aroma, just a touch buttery, light grains. Blackberry flavor is quite light and has a hard time overcoming the chalkiness of wheat malt, becomes fairly bland, not offensive, just dull, the light tartness of the berries is there but not enough to make it great. This might actually be quite nice with about 5x as many blackberries, the base is a nice soft wheat without any of the typical Sam Adams grainy off flavors. Body is also better than average for Sam Adams, medium bodied, fuller mouth-feel, a bit chalky with softer medium sized carbonation. With an amazing score of 2.8 this is the winner of my tasting...

had kinda a thin body, taste of blackberries at first with a wheat taste being mixed in the aftertaste.

I certainly like this one! The blackberries aren’t overwhelming. Subtle, but nice. It’s a great beer for a hot day. I’d like to have a little more blackberry flavor but it’s still a very good beer. VERY easy to drink too. Finishes crisp yet still easy.

Very easy drinking brew. Nothing overdone, but nothing really makes you go "wow" either. Avery solid fruit beer. Great for summer drinking. Pours golden with aroma of wheat and blackberries. Nice carbonation on the tongue with a very crisp finish. Would drink again.
