Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Tough to review because I don’t care for the beer style very much, subjectively. Pours medium amber with white head. Nose is potent with big berry aromas and yeasty bread. Palate is sour fruity, easily blackberry and maybe blueberry mixed together, lightly malty sweet, and finishes sweet also.

I was pleasantly surprised with this beer. I am not a fan of SA’s Cranberry or Cherry beers. I was hesitant to try this because of that. It has a good witbier taste with a hint of blackberry. I recommend this new one from SA.

Overall I really enjoyed this brew. Smooth and crisp at the same time with a good aroma and palate. Smooth fruity brew that quenches the thirst and satisfies the palate.

I also don’t usually like berry beers but this one is quite good. Of course the berry flavor is there but subtle, more pronounced in the aroma. Smooth taste and very drinkable. Thumbs up.

I’m not a big fruit beer guy. If a brewery can pull off a beer with fruit in it without having to put fruit in it, I am more receptive. I really liked this beer a lot. I was shocked by it’s delicious flavor. This is a beer for everyone!

Really noticeable blackberry smell. Thought this would overpower the beer but surprisingly didn’t. Good for this kind of weather.

Big foamy white head...straw color. Aroma of fresh grains and blackberries. Taste of corn and blackberries. Dry finish typical of a wheat beer. The blackberries give it a sweet and sour characteristic. Light mouthfeel, highly drinkable. Decent summer quencher.

Extremely fruity. Apparently they make this stuff with blackberries because it allows them to brew them w/ fresh fruit. Decent beer, but there is quite a shock of sugar/fruit that tastes artificial, be it or not. I don’t think this much fruit flavor goes too well with something so low in ABV, or something not astringent like a lambic.
