Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Poured yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma of berries. Some berry flavor. Mostly water. Finish was terrible.

I’m not a big fan of either fruit beers or witbiers, but this one isn’t half bad. An overwhelming berry smell when first opened and poured, followed by a standard wheat smell. Flavor is the same. It’s really about what you’d expect.

Bottle poured a hazy gold with a lasting off white head. Aromas of blackberry, soap, wheat and spice. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of wheat, blackberry, light soap and a hint of spice with a smooth dry fruity finish.

Cloudy, golden, thin haze as a head. Nothing but berry aroma. Light berry taste, some wheat. Typical, standard fruit beer.

Pours orangish with a short lived white head. Smell is fruity with berry like syrup and maybe a touch of wheat. Taste is wheaty with a dry berry flavor but no sweetness from it. A bit of a buttery flavor again, like the regular Sam Adams witbier had too, but not as much, and it finishes with a mild hoppiness. Medium body and carbonation level. I thought this was a touch better than the standard witbier as it had some fruity flavor that masked the buttery quality, yet without being sweet. Drinkable, but still not something I’d look to drink again if there were options.

Bottle. Cloudy gold. Tall off-white head. Sort of tan. Aroma is is fruity - berries mainly, with spices, grains and malt but is rather sweet overall. Taste is equally fruity, again with berries being the bulk of the fruit, hint of lemon, light tartness, grains, and light spice . Body is light and bubbly. Strong carbonation. Refreshing nonetheless. Ends with more grains, fruit/berry notes, light lemon and melon and light spices. Not too bad.

Pours hazy gold/amber. Aroma is wheat, berries, and a faint vinegar aroma. Flavor is very fruity, standard wheat tones underly fairly fresh tasting blackberry. I really like berries, so this one got s few extra flavor points from me. This would be great on a vert hot day.

Well, this is pretty terrible. Pours orange / amber with a very sudsy off-white head. The aroma has cough syrup-like berriness and a bit of wheat - not much else going on. Medium body with lots of sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with phenolic spice, wateriness, some wheat and light berries. The finish is much of the same. Quite underwhelming.
