Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Pours straw yellow with a medium head. Color is way off for a witbier. Aroma is mostly berry with a bit of malt. Mouthfeel is liveley with carbonation, but a bit thin. Flavor is pretty one-dimensional with berry being very dominant. I taste none of the Witbier components.

Nice berry aroma a little malty. Grainy straw color. Berry flavor infused with spices and a present malt character. Sweet to dry aftertaste. Trys to be a wit but comes up short. A nice refresher.

12 oz. bottle gives a big "whoosh" of berry aroma as it pours. A muddy terra cotta in color, this beer is darker than I anticipated it being. Large white head dissipates quickly leaving no lacing and a sour smell as the berry aroma fades. Front palate is sour with bitter middle and almost an acrid, burnt ash finish. Overly carbonated with a lingering sour aftertaste. Not blackberry, not witbier, not pleasant. Ick.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy gold with a thin beige head that fades some. Taste is of yeast, wheat and a hint of blackberry. Similar aroma. Good, but I was expecting more fruit in the flavor and aroma.

12 oz bottle. Pours a light hazy orange body with small white head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is blackberry and just a touch of citrus - which makes for an interesting combination. Taste is medium bodied with some blackberry at first and some citrus in the finish. This definitely tastes closer to a blackberry fruit beer rather than a wit bier with blackberry flavor. Although this beer does have a slightly weird flavor, it is absolutely more sessionable than Sam Adams other fruit offerings (Cherry Wheat first comes to mind).

12 oz. bottle served in flute- poured roughly 90% transparent faded copper color, medium carbonation of small bubbles. White ring around the glass for a head. Aroma of young blackberries, weak coriander, and musky wheat. Hits the mouth with a high-weak body, malt gets lost among a strong blackberry sensation which seems a bit artificial, some tartness in the middle, finish is kind of a train wreck (weak hops mixed with various fruit sensations and old wheat- YUM!). Sam let me down today.

bottle poured a yellow in color with fizzy carbonation and a thin head. aroma has some berry extract, sweetness, and wheat. light refreshing mouth feel. flavor has some wheat, berry, and sweetness. the berry starts to grow on me a bit and is actually not too overdone. this would work on a hot summer day.

Nice blackberry here but ther is nothing that says witbier. Not coriander. No orange peel. Just light beer and fruit.
