Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Nice blackberry here but ther is nothing that says witbier. Not coriander. No orange peel. Just light beer and fruit.

Bottle pours a hazy honey gold with a medium vanilla head that is creamy and retains well. Aroma of blackberries, wheat malt and vague spices. Light medium body is crisply carbonated but a bit thin. Taste has a nice berry tartness, some twangy yeast, and assertive wheat maltiness. Vague spices seem to be corainder and pepper. Nicely done for style and quite drinkable. Far superior to their Cherry Wheat.

Golden pour with large white head. Lots of malts and hops in the aroma with a very slight hint of fruits. Flavor was all hops, no blackberry flavor at all. I was very disappointed by this, especially since its a Sam Adams.

Pours slightly hazed with a tawny golden hue. A tall head lasts with a little fruit on the aroma. Medium nectar with soft effers creating a luscious mouthfeel. This brew is mildly fruit with defined blackberry essemce. It’s on the dry side with a rich malt character. The finish bitters up to balance and leaves the tongue quite dry and flavorless.

Hazy golden yellow, one-finger bright white head, pretty good retention and lacing. Blackberries were quite clear in the aroma, but not overpowering. A hint of spices as well. Tart berry flavors were prominent, supported by a strong wheat and malt backbone. Lively carbonation, somewhat slick and oily mouthfeel, and a pleasant fruity aftertaste. Much better than I expected.

Lots of blackberries. Not too "heavy", would definitely benefit from more wheat. Drinkable but not preferred.

Semi-cloudy golden with light orange tinge and a thin white head. Aroma is almost all blackberry. The scent is very fruity sweet but a natural scent, not a fake sugar fruitiness. Blackberry hits up front and moves into a wheat middle with a slight sour flavor and ends with an alcohol presence. Alcohol and the berry combine to make a weird kind of off flavor. Overall for a fruit beer it is honestly not that bad an offering by Sam and nothing in it is too overpowering with a well balanced flavor as a whole.

Gold pour, thin white head. Aroma is berry and tart orange with light corriander spice. Flavour is again berry and tart orange and spice backed by a slightly sourish malt
