| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 21, 2009 My first glass is warm to see just how strong the blackberry smell is, and yes, you can certainly smell the berries. Initial taste is, for some odd reason, NOT very berry, but the aftertaste is. DURING my drink I only really noticed some wheat with a slight tartness to it. There are better beers from Sam Adams. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 21, 2009 hazy amber under a small white head. i can smell the blackberries as soon as the cap opened. aroma has no noticeable white beer characteristics. flavor has lots of blackberry blended with grainy flavors that hint white beer like coriander. palate is sharply carbonated with light. weird medicinal aftertaste. wickster (35), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 21, 2009 Not one of my favs, granted I’m not a fan of the style either, so I’m sure I’m a bit jaded on this one.
Poured with large head <insert Beavis/Butthead laugh here>, very thin, but the berry is noticable at the end. If I was a fan of the stye I’m sure my rating would be a bit higher. Acknud (782), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 21, 2009 Decent taste and appearance. Wheat beer body and underlying taste with a sweet/tart blackberry finish. ChainGangGuy (2580), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 21, 2009 Appearance: Pours a clear, orange-amber body with a fizzy, large, off-white head.
Smell: Plump, handpicked blackberry nose ahead of notes smelling of toasty wheat malt and a few scant drops of clover honey.
Taste: Crisp malted wheat and a taste of bready barley with a light honeyish sweetness. Hints of citrus and coriander preclude the pervasive blackberry flavor. Touch of spicy hops and bitterness. Finishes semi-dry and gently effervescent with a tangy mix of wheat and berries.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium-plus carbonation.
Drinkability: A fine beer to usher in spring with. Surprisingly refreshing and pleasant, considering how BBC’s other fruit beer (Grape Pale Ale, Cranberry Lambic, and Cherry Wheat) all were total flops for me. lamas (722), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Bottle. Purchase before: July 2009. Different label than that in the picture. Pours a slightly hazy old gold with a thick light-tan head that leaves rings of lacing. Tart artificial blackberry aroma with some sweet caramel, Smarties candy, coriander, and a wheaty graininess. A medicinal smell - almost like NyQuil. Thin-bodied with a good bit of carbonation. Taste starts off with some malty sweetness and transitions quickly to a blackberry tartness. Very mild spiciness with some coriander and orange peel in there too. Crisp finish. Refreshing. bhensonb (4336), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Bottle from BevMo. Hazy light amber color with a decent beige head. Smells like blackberries. Near medium body with coarse carbonation. Flavor is grain/wheat/bread with definite dark berry flavor. I’d say blackberry. Finish is mild. Not very bitter. Not at all sweet.
