Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Aroma smells of old stale leftover keg beer and flavor is not much better. Kept trying to find the blackberry but appears smothered by bad taste.

First of all, I’ve never met a witbier I didn’t like. This one came from the new bottle, not the "Sample A" bottle pictured on the left. Poured golden, good blackberry aroma. Another big winner from Sam Adams. Great taste. What can I say, you taste the blackberries and of course the witbier laced with hints of vanilla, toffee, coriander, orange peel, and probably more. A crack watery, but solid.

Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in Plano, TX. Pours a hazy gold with fizzy white head. Aroma of obvious blackberry and wheat, hey. Flavor is nice, malty wheat and blackberry. Mouth feel is soft with high carbonation. Over all, a nice refreshing beer!

The aroma is noticeable blackberries, and a sour cereal grain smell. The appearance is an orange/gold color, with a tinge of purple, and a white foam head. The flavor is again blackberries, sweet, notes of wheat and other cereal grains. The finish is somewhat sweet, not many hops are in evidence here. Not bad. Might be enjoyable on a hot summer day.

Pours a rather light yellowish color with very little head. Blackberry overpowers the head and the flavor, making this beer strangely reminiscent of a dessert liqueur. Not really what I’m looking for in a beer.

Pours a hazy yellowish-orange color with a small, fleeting, off-white head. Wet suds quickly run back towards the body, leaving scant, ultra-skinny trails of lacing behind. The nose is sweet and artificial, notes of saccharine blackberry syrup showing atop a stale wheat grain malt base. Traces of orange marmalade and hints of raspberry tartness show as well. Flavors are again overly grainy and artificial, with an overbearing note of forced berry and citrus peel. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied and a bit fizzy on the tongue, finishing too sweet. This reminds me alot of Abita Purple Haze, and that’s not really a good thing.

Bottle. This beer was interesting. At first I hated it but after awhile it grows on you. You can taste the blackberries and it has a good body to balance it out.
