| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 3, 2009 The smell is very blackberry like, sort of artificial, wheat smell, straight foward. The look is cloudy with a thin off white head. The color is just about the color of a peach. The taste is fruity, blackberry, some wheat, and a little orange peel. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Bottle from Keg Liquor.
Poured hazy pale color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate yeasty berry aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium fruity sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.
Drinkable soft beer, but only worth having once. fitch256 (26), Boston, Massachusetts, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Bottle. Pours an off-orange cloudy color. The aroma is fairly strong on blackberries, obviously, with a scent of wheat and malt. The taste is a very subdued blackberry flavor, the more prevailing taste is the wheat. While fruit beers are difficult and are easily messed up and can become a disaster, this one does not fall into that category, but is nothing to write home about. I wouldn’t go out of my way to find this, but would be satisfied if someone handed me one. jkwalking05 (1501), Arlington, Texas, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Bright orange and cloudy with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet with wheat and blackberries. Taste is of wheat, blackberries, and grape juice. EithCubes (2171), Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Bottle. Intense, overflowing blackberry aroma, really FEEL the juice. Syrupy, candyish, whispers of cloying artificiality but not a lot of proof at this point. Hazy golden pour with a jiggly creamy eggshell head, lots of long-lasting lace. Vibrant body, crisp and smooth, wheat malt readily evident, cascading carbonation with a lovely Sam-Bread aftertaste. Light orange peel and heavy spice but coriander isn’t all here, perhaps dominated by the strong blackberries (which, it turns out, do taste pretty natural). Sweet but never cloying, lightly tart, with a bit of yeast slipping past the filter censors. Medium-full body, smooth and repeatable, a big fruity surprise from Boston. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange/copper with a smallish white head and aromas of putrid blackberries and gunky wheat. Flavor is of artificial blackberries and odd and gunky wheat. I kinda thought this might be a messy fruit beer... I feel a little like a prophet right now. Zaprozdower (42), Boone, North Carolina, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Probably one of my least favorite from Sam Adams. Sounds great but has a couple of problems. Foremost is its total lack of mouthfeel, feels like water going down. Also, little Belgian characteristic to it. Aroma has decent and taste has ok but was mostly sweet with little complexity. Didnt want a second one.
