Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

The aroma definitely has has a berry fruitiness with detectable blackberries but not exclusively. There is also an adjunct quality to it. The appearance is hazy gold with a smaller head. The flavor is sweet but not cloying, it has plenty of berry but also lots of adjunct like malts without much in the way of wheat until the finish. The palate is smooth. Overall it is a nice beer with a couple of flaws but I like the idea here.

12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a hazy amber color with a one finger thick white head. Light lacing. Has a wheat malt, a touch of herbal hops, and a bubble gum berry aroma. Flavor is mainly blackberries. Light to medium body. Mouthfeel is a little thin but crisp and has a slight lingering aftertaste. Wortha try.

Bottle. This was a good idea beer, but something was missing. Very cloudy pour. Decent head, no lacing. Good carbonation. You can smell and taste the blackberry. Tart aftertaste. Decent but missing something.

Pours a cloudy light golden color with thin white head and some lacing. Tastes of blackberries and other fruits and is quite wheaty. For a fruit beer it is all right .

Poured a hazy to cloudy golden yellow color, ok initial head with ok lacing. The aroma was strong black and blueberries over top of a wheaty base. The flavor followed, sweet fruit puree behind the obvious blackberry fruit flavor, wheaty balance, but over all somewhat sweet. This thing really was no different than their cherry wheat in my book, reallly didn’t get any of the typical wit spicing underneath. Mouthfeel was light, a tad watery actually.

Cloudy amber. Fast head. Aroma: Blackberries, malt. Flavor: Blackberries, wheat, pepper. Coying finish. I have had more beers from Samuel Adams than any other brewery (20 at the time of this writing). This one is not the best nor worst but I like finding another Sam from time to time.

Orange pour with a white head. Fruity aroma. Strong berry flavor initially which balances out with the pale malts. More berry at the finish. Weird berry and malt aftertaste.

12 oz bottle pours medium yellow with a good thick head. Artificial berry aroma with some metal mixed in. Slightly sweet wheat taste with again an artificial taste of berries. Acidic aftertaste.
