Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Hazy light orange pour with a slight offwhite head. Mild wheat in the aroma with some berry as well. Reminds me of their cherry wheat which I am not overly fond of. Flavor and mouthfeel are much the same as the cherry wheat just a different fruit. Artificial blackberry. Not a fan

Pours a hazy almost orange color. Yu can smell the blackberries right away. Taste is a bit dry, with expected taste of blackberries. The beer got better as I drank it. Overall an okay beer.

Poured a cloudy blonde color. Mild berry aroma with an underlying spice note. Palate is light, typical of wheat beers. Mild blackberry taste with a spice note and very slight hops bitterness. Average.

Bottle. Good aroma:more currant than blackberry. Excellent color. Medium head tha dissipates withing 5 minutes. Typical mouthfeel for a wheat beer. Main disappointment is flavor which is just so so. Tastes better with food like Ritz crackers. Not that great by itself.

Deep golden amber pour. The fruit seems to have a cloying feeling on the nose and the initial mouthfeel. The end palate shoes a better blend between fruit and hops.

In the bottle at the 2009 Crescent Moon Summer Beer Festival. The chemical aroma is disgusting. The berry flavor is strong and holds your attention. OK, but not my cup of beer.

Dark gold pour with off-white head. Nose of blackberry syrup and grain. Flavor is much the same with a decent amount of sweetness and just a touch of hops on the finish. Flavor really hangs on the palate.

Bottle sampled at GABF 2009 while waiting for Utopias. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is blackberry, wheat, and spice. Flavor more of the same, with a decent blackberry taste but nothing too exciting overall. Ever so slightly tart yet also sweet. Palate is light and somewhat dry.
