Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Pours a cloudy apricot-yellow with a thin head which quickly receded. The aroma is not particularly strong, though a few hints of the blackberry sweetness is prevalent. The flavor is somewhat sweet like you would expect from a blackberry but somewhat tempered by some spicy hops, though neither one is particularly strong. Orange peel and coriander are also present, though neither one is overpowering. The aftertaste does get annoying after a little while because that sweet flavor starts to linger and taste more and more artificial while the wheat, coriander and hops fade away. An okay fruit beer that would garner more praise if it had a better aftertaste.

Pours an appealing clear golden amber with a decent head, off-white, fairly fluffy and fairly persistent. Aroma is malty with a firm blackberry component that gets your attention but does not overwhelm the beery aroma. Flavor is like a good ale, and again the blackberry tone is firm but not too strong. Texture is smooth, refreshing, fizzy, lively.

[bottle into flute] aroma has definite blackberry overtones. Pours a light brown with a medium, white, fluffy head. Flavor is berries and something else I can’t quite taste. Finish is slightly alcoholic. Not a bad fruit beer, though I am only trying it to branch out in the beers I drink. Will drink this again if it is presented, but will probably not purchase it.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a slightly hazy softly carbonated light orange colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was fruity and blackberry. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of fruity and blackberry. Not one that I would likely buy again.

Middle of the road fruit beer. Had it from a sampler pack. Unlike some other posters I was able to taste the berries throughout. Decent berry aftertaste as well. Not a fan of fruit beers though.

12 oz bottle. Blackberry is noticeable, but not overbearing. Nice wheat flavor and aroma. Head is weak. Nice hazy golden color. Not the best fruit beer out there, but it’s not too bad.

Really strong smell of blackberries, no blackberry taste. Actually, really no taste at all. Great aroma, though.

hazy gold color, respectable white head, lacy. nose of fruit and grain. taste follows nose, with the fruit not dominating, but the most noticibale ingredient, with malty and grainy notes. medium bodied, sweet finish. not bad, but i don’t think there is a reason to repeat tasting a fruit beer.
