Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Bottle: Poured a hazy orangey color ale with white haze and a medium foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of blackberry and wheat is sweeter then I had anticipated but still very much enjoyable. Taste is well enough balanced between sweet blackberries and medium wheat malt. Body is fuller then average with OK carbonation. Not bad overall thought I prefer my Wit without fruit.

Local bottle. Okay but nothing special. Decent witbier but seemed a little disjointed with the berry flavours added. Honestly thought a fair amount of the blackberry influence seemed more like blueberries to me...probably just me though.

Hazy golden with some floaties, lasting off white head. Aroma of light blackberry, some light pale malt. Taste: mild blackberry, some light wheat, overall clean and light bodied, easy drinking.

Quite fruity aroma, like a mix of blueberry and strawberry. Lots of wheat too. Flavor is a light fruit wheat, but is actually pretty tasty. Good with food.

Very nice fruit beer the blackberry smell and aftertaste is not overpowering, but is not very different from the cherry wheat offering in terms of quality.

12oz bottle from Walmart (yeah Walmart, I said it). hazy copper orange pour with a finger off-white head and a half-hearted sheet of bubbly lacing. aroma is grain, wheat, blackberry and spice. seems more blueberry-ish in the taste. with lemon and cloves. little aftertaste and almost no carbonation.

Bright berry aroma, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, like hubba bubba. Cloudy yellow/gold, strong dense white head. Jammy right away with subtle faint tart fresh fruit character, dries out as the wheat makes itself known, finishes dry with a hint of lemon. Well crafted.

Bottle. Pours a hazy, light amber color with a minimal, frothy white head. Lacing is pretty weak. Aromas are heavy with blackberries as expected, but also include pear and banana. Mouthfeel is very crisp and clean, with a nice quick finish. Tastes of blackberries abound with a wheat finish. This is a great beer, a truly great beer.

Bottle. Poured orange with thin fast dissipating white head. Light aroma of wheat & blackberries. A little blackberry in the finish, mostly some light wheatiness. Almost no finish at all, merely a little blackberriness.
