Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Cloudy wheat beer with a small head that dissapears quickly. The aroma is strong with blackberries and over powers any normal beer aroma. It has a slight bitter taste that offsets the sweetness of the blackberries, but is also very flat. Not my favorite beer but it cames with the Sam Adams variety pack. I drink this first so I can use the rest to wash it down with. :)

aroma of yeast and slight berry. Color is cloudy-ish golden. Heavily carbonated with a noticeable presence of blackberrys. Slick texture with a medium body with an abrupt finish of semi bitterness berry.

Cloudy yellow color (with light particles); Light to medium body; Aroma and flavor of blackberry of course, sweet malt, some citrus and spice; Not my favorite - but an ok fruit beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy antique gold with a large white head that lasted through the first third of the glass and left large blotches of trailing foam. There are lots of small and a few larger floaties swirling about the lower portion of my glass. Strong aroma of blackberries along with just a bit of malt sneaking through. The flavor is again dominated by the blackberries although the malt behind them is more noticeable than in the aroma. Not a bad fruit beer.

Bottle ( 12oz ). Clear pale bright gold, large fizzy-fluffy white diminishing head (no lace). Aroma of sweet black currant, some floral bitterness, a bit of paper. Taste is simpler, less sweet than the aroma - a mild witbier yeast/spice backbone with up-front ripe blackberry tartness. Average body, extremely light carbonation, with a sweet sticky fruity linger - decent.

Blackberriieeessss. This is the kind of fruit juice I wish I brought to school with me when I was a kid. The blackberry taste was very noticeable, but not bad.

Bottle purchased from a corner deli. Pour is light amber yellowish orange. Aroma is purple. Taste is wheaty, dough, and blue and blackberrys. Pretty decent but not very big.

Nothing spectacular as a witbeir; the blackberry addition does give the witbier a pleasant change of pace flavor; not much on aroma; an ’OK’ beer from Sam Adams

in bottle @ GIBF, what the hell is with sam adams? why cant they keep it simple and just do a quality witbier or IPA or whatever and not add fruit or whatever to it to try and be different. as one of the largest "micro’s" out there, they have the money to create some really nice beer if they wanted to but seem to have lost the idea that most people like simple beer, if i want an IPA i want to taste citrus and pine with high hops and very little malt, if i have a witbier i want spices, orange, and crisp taste, not blackberry.
