fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 28, 2007 Very clear - light gold color. White head - thick head. A little grassy hops in the aroma. Slight bitterness. some caramel and sweet light malt flavor Hopistotle420 (1178), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA Jul 4, 2006 I actually still have one or 2 of these a rep left at my place of work. Anyways, pours a deep golden yellow hue. Bubbly white head. Grainy nose, faintly perfumey/floral, herbal hops. Pale biscuity malts, grainy, simple. Light in body, sticky resinous hops throughout a crisp clean finish. Nothing too wonderful here, yet a nice rendition. I remember drinking the golden pilsner as a kid and enjoying it quite a bit. Obviously my palate has changed a bit in the last few years, but hey I still have some bottles of that left over I found stashed in a closet at my parents house. Anybody want some Sam Adams Golden Pilsner from several years ago? Mmmmm. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 2, 2006 Updated: Mar 4, 2006Bottle shared with tupalev & jerc - courtesy of tupalev, via a mystery supplier. Light golden-orange colour. Grassy herbal hops and honey on the nose. Flavour is very well balanced with sweet malt & fresh hop notes. A decent stab at the style, comperable to a good Euro pils. Too bad it lost. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 27, 2006 Sample A bottle shared with Jerc and GregClow. Really interesting aroma - peppery hops, sweet, light malt, almost a wheat/yeast thing going on - pretty nice. Yellow, nice sized white head, but goes away pretty quickly. Watery mouthfeel. Decent pils hops in taste, but the rest of all watered down. Short watery finish. Good start, bad finish. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 22, 2006 Sample A. Golden yellow with a tiny white head. Sweet, not quite floral aroma. Odd noble hop presence in both aroma and flavour, with an interesting hop bitterness. Decent but it takes a pretty special pilsener to impress me. Average palate. Thanks for sharing guys. blankboy (3157), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 20, 2006 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry. Pours a clear, very bubbly gold with a small somewhat-lasting white head. Mild, slightly sweet, aroma of grain, malt, honey and hops -- not bad for a Pilsener. Flavour starts somewhat sweet but fairly bland with some grain, honey and malt but finishes with a nice hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied. Not bad, i’m not huge on Pilseners but this one is pretty decent. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Feb 20, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy. I Won’t go into how I got this, suffice to say, labelled "Sample A" and here goes. Poured very bubbly clear gold with a neverending bubble column, a solid sticky white head and sticky lacing. Somewhat sweet grassy aroma backed up with enough grain and mild hops to make it not bad at all. The grassiness is much more pronounced in the flavour, still some timothy sweetness and floral hops, but mostly grainy, a nice bit of hop-bitterness develops on warming. Mouthfeel moderately fizzy, average thickness for a pils, a little astringent. A decent pils - not my favourite style but quite drinkable - I think this one should have won! Thanks to "M" for the bottles!
