Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams® Boston Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of our Boston Brewery. Like Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, it was an old family recipe that was rescued by Jim Koch from his father’s attic. Samuel Adams® Boston Ale, a Stock Ale, has a complex, caramel malt character balanced with distinct spicy and herbal hop notes. Our proprietary ale yeast imparts a variety of fruit and ester notes in both the nose and flavor which are indicative of the style. Stock Ale, one of the few classic beer styles to have originated in the United States, has a strong New England heritage. The style draws its name from the cool "stock cellars" in which it was aged. This technique imparted a smoothness and body which became the hallmark of this style. Keeping with the Stock Ale style, Samuel Adams® Boston Ale is fermented at cooler almost lager like temperatures and conditioned much longer than most ales. It also is Krausened and dry hopped.

bottle. redish hue of a color with a small off white head. nose is lightly hoppy with some caramel and roast notes. Palate is smooth and kinda syrupy, not much tingle or carbonation. Flavor is caramel with some light hop notes in the backround, a bit of some roast and some strawish grass notes

I think it’s better than the lager, but it’s not as easy to drink. Expensive for a session beer.

I can’t find a lot of really good things to say about this beer, other than I love to drink it. It is my staple session beer. Well hopped and well balanced.

Pours a clear orangey color with a thick cream colored head. Aggressive hoppy aroma that can be smelled from over a foot away! Upon closer inspection, you can smell some malt and graininess as well. Roasty flavor, not unlike their Oktoberfest, but lighter on the tongue. Metallic hops and fruit in the after taste. Smooth drinking.

Not quite as common as the Boston Lager, this beer possesses everything good and memorable about medium-bodied American ales. Good body, pleasant hop flavor and smooth to the last drop.

A middle-of-the-road ale. Nothing to write home about. A bit weak on taste, fruity and malty, would be good if it was bolder. Not bad, though.

Light brown color with a nice head. Floral, malty, maybe a little alcohol smell. Malty with a some hop flavor, a little alcohol, and a little bitter finish. Slight sticky sweet aftertaste. Somewhere between a light and medium body. Pretty well balance. I like this beer.
