Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams® Boston Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of our Boston Brewery. Like Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, it was an old family recipe that was rescued by Jim Koch from his father’s attic. Samuel Adams® Boston Ale, a Stock Ale, has a complex, caramel malt character balanced with distinct spicy and herbal hop notes. Our proprietary ale yeast imparts a variety of fruit and ester notes in both the nose and flavor which are indicative of the style. Stock Ale, one of the few classic beer styles to have originated in the United States, has a strong New England heritage. The style draws its name from the cool "stock cellars" in which it was aged. This technique imparted a smoothness and body which became the hallmark of this style. Keeping with the Stock Ale style, Samuel Adams® Boston Ale is fermented at cooler almost lager like temperatures and conditioned much longer than most ales. It also is Krausened and dry hopped.

bottle from the Summer Mixpack. Solid ale. Not a whole lot happening but still not bad. More malt presence than I would have expected. Not too much hops but it is there. Would not buy again but I like it better than the Boston Lager

An ale with a little bit of a fruity note, and a nice sturdy head atop a golden clear body; a fine everyday ale.

Bottle. Poured a clear red/orange color with a very nice off-white head. I smelled hints of toasty malts and spicy and floral hops. Overall the smell was interesting (in an okay way). The beer had a medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation, and an abrubt/bitter finish. I am not a big fan of the flavor of the beer as I thought it had a very slight hint of sweetness to go with the bitterness. I would have to say this is not my kind of beer. I really didn’t like the aftertaste and dryness in my mouth.

Bottle pour. CLear amber color with a small white head. Excellent lacing! Light malt aroma and light hops with perhaps some banana in there too. Moderately bitter finish. Light body. Dry. Soft carbonation. Samuel Adams doesn’t do too many things bad, just too many things average.

35cl bottle @ Balsam Cocktail Lounge, Oslo Norway. Beautiful color. Clean nose and crispy taste. A great introduction to ales for lagerdrinkers!

Bottle. Pours a copper color with a big white head. The aroma is of caramel and malts. Tastes more malty than caramel and not amazing.
