Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams® Boston Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of our Boston Brewery. Like Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, it was an old family recipe that was rescued by Jim Koch from his father’s attic. Samuel Adams® Boston Ale, a Stock Ale, has a complex, caramel malt character balanced with distinct spicy and herbal hop notes. Our proprietary ale yeast imparts a variety of fruit and ester notes in both the nose and flavor which are indicative of the style. Stock Ale, one of the few classic beer styles to have originated in the United States, has a strong New England heritage. The style draws its name from the cool "stock cellars" in which it was aged. This technique imparted a smoothness and body which became the hallmark of this style. Keeping with the Stock Ale style, Samuel Adams® Boston Ale is fermented at cooler almost lager like temperatures and conditioned much longer than most ales. It also is Krausened and dry hopped.

Another solid Sam Adams entry. A good mass produced ale. Aromas of caramel and carries through to the initial taste hit of a bitter hop aftertaste.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pours a nice off brown or very dark golden with a creamy head. I am hit with something that smells nearly sulfuric at first. After I convinced myself that it was not sulfur I picked up on the malts, carmel in nature and spices. I’m right there with the given scores to this point and I’m surprise. I like it, I really do and it surprised me. It was smoothed and balanced. A good Amber.

On tap at the washington street ale house in delaware. They list it as their "Warped Ale"? Anyway. Once again served to cold but... Nice rustic color to it. Not much to smell since it was served so cold. Flavor was good, cinamon, spices and pretty smooth. Medium light texture. Over all a enjoyable beer.

Brown in color and pours a medium head, with a nice amount of lacing. Smooth hoppy flavor with spices and some caramel mixed in with a sour note in the finish. It falls a little short of their Lager but it’s pretty good and a nice session choice.

Not bad for a domestic. Tastes more of a lager than an ale. Very smooth taste and overall a beer that can be enjoyed for $10 a six-pack.

On tap at the brewery in boston. I had this side by side with the Lager. A good balance between the english old ale and american ale styles. One of my favorite offerings from Mr. Sam.

Pours golden with and orangish tint and a glorious head that is off white and lasts more than 4 minutes. Aroma of faint malt, grass , hops, hay, and cream. Taste is, Wow, this beer is delicious! Taste is of light, bitter malt, hops, cream and straw. The ale is not overly carbonated and maintains an appropriate level of carbonation throughout the duration of the drink. This would go great with a steak like Dean Martin gos with Franky Sinatra. Drinking this beer on the farm makes me feel happy. Robust finish, leaves a sensation an the tongue and a sweet grass aftertaste in the mouth.

On tap. Cloudy, burnt orange color with off-while head. Slight floral aroma. Strong citrus and floral tastes, which dominated the hops. I liked the complex flavor, but perhaps it was a tad too strong. Went well with the sausage pizza I ate it which. Solid ale.
