Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams® Boston Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of our Boston Brewery. Like Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, it was an old family recipe that was rescued by Jim Koch from his father’s attic. Samuel Adams® Boston Ale, a Stock Ale, has a complex, caramel malt character balanced with distinct spicy and herbal hop notes. Our proprietary ale yeast imparts a variety of fruit and ester notes in both the nose and flavor which are indicative of the style. Stock Ale, one of the few classic beer styles to have originated in the United States, has a strong New England heritage. The style draws its name from the cool "stock cellars" in which it was aged. This technique imparted a smoothness and body which became the hallmark of this style. Keeping with the Stock Ale style, Samuel Adams® Boston Ale is fermented at cooler almost lager like temperatures and conditioned much longer than most ales. It also is Krausened and dry hopped.

Bottle. Pours a light amber color with a medium frothy off white head. The aroma is a light malt with caramel. Good lacing on the glass. The taste is a sweet malt with a light hop finish. A decent amber by Sam Adams.

Pours a amber with off-white head, Smooth body with some complexion in this. Overall enjoyable beer. Actually like this one more than the Boston Lager, this one has a better finish to it.

Pours clouded light amber, with medium to small head. Smells of lighter fruits, slight citrus, and crisp hops. Tastes of light fruits, citrus, dampened but crisp hops, and an oat tinted finish.

12 oz bottle-Clear amber color w/a large off white creamy mead. Sweet malt aroma. Flavors of roasted malt, bread dough, caramel, & raisens. Has some hop bitterness to it, maybe a little more than the Boston Lager. Thought this was a pretty solid Amber Ale, not overly hopped like some. Smooth & easy to drink. Long, bitter finish.

Bottle. Clear amber with a medium, quite stable off-white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of malt, some caramel and hops. Sweet flavor of caramelly malts, some toasted bread, some fruity hints, and medium hop bitterness in the finish. Medium-bodied. A nice sessionable beer.

Pours amber with a small stable head. Initial sweet malty taste leads into a slightly bitter aftertaste. Balance is a little off, but not bad. Very easy to drink.
