Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams® Boston Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of our Boston Brewery. Like Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, it was an old family recipe that was rescued by Jim Koch from his father’s attic. Samuel Adams® Boston Ale, a Stock Ale, has a complex, caramel malt character balanced with distinct spicy and herbal hop notes. Our proprietary ale yeast imparts a variety of fruit and ester notes in both the nose and flavor which are indicative of the style. Stock Ale, one of the few classic beer styles to have originated in the United States, has a strong New England heritage. The style draws its name from the cool "stock cellars" in which it was aged. This technique imparted a smoothness and body which became the hallmark of this style. Keeping with the Stock Ale style, Samuel Adams® Boston Ale is fermented at cooler almost lager like temperatures and conditioned much longer than most ales. It also is Krausened and dry hopped.

pours a golden copper with just over a fingers worth of a fluffy off white head. aroma is malt and hops with a touch of grapefruit and dish rag. has a light to medium body with good lacing and carbonation. the flavor is the same as aroma. has a little dry aftertaste and is very smooth, a little thin and average though.

A light golden color with a light hops aroma. This was a decent ale with a good use of hops and malts. I liked the flavor of this beer. Had some good flavors. I think Ales are easier to make and I think they made this very nicely. Had a good finish.

From bottle : Pours a crystal clear amber color with a nice finger and a half white foamy head with nice spotty lacing on the glass. Nose of fruity hops. Flavor is sweet malts at the get go and turns a little bitter toward the end. Pretty good.

A beer that looks like beer, smells like beer, and tastes like beer. Poured dark amber, decent head formation. Aroma of malt and slight hops. Taste? Plenty! Hits the palate with malt and a bit of hops. The only negative is a slight acidic after taste. The beer-pagne people hate this one, regular beer drinkers should like it.
