It is pretty much what you expect from an irish red with that red color and caramel malt. Glad I tried it and I would order again easily.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 12, 2009 On tap at the Sam Adams Brewery, Boston MA, 6 November 2009 (also available at Doyles in case they don’t have it on the tour). The tour guide assured me this is a unique recipe available only on draught at a limited number of establishments in Boston itself. Some sort of charity thing going on that I didn’t quite pick up on. Described by the guide as an English style ale made with EKGs and the (not so English) Spalt hops. Reddish colour. Tan head. Nice condition. Slightly earthy aroma. Clean and distinctly fruity. Good balance. Not big but well balanced and tasty. As with most beers, this seemed at its best fresh at the brewery (I presume they make it in Boston).

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 15, 2009 On tap. Has a clear amber color. Aroma was very light. It was mainly full of malts. Taste was pretty much the same. I was expecting a little more from these guys. MadIndian (997), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Oct 10, 2009 On tap during the annual Boston/Salem/Marble head tour. Samled at the brewery. What a dissapointment the tour was this time around. This was the first year that you really felt rushed.
Anyway this beer had a red pour with thin off white head. Nasty metallic taste to it. The entire group did not like this one. TungstenGT (33), Birmingham, Alabama, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 5, 2009 I had this on a recent trip to Boston after a tour of the Samuel Adams brewery. I really enjoyed this beer and I think it is one of SA’s best brews. I only wish it was available outside of Boston.

The color is a deep red with an amber tint. Has some slight white foamy head, some nice lacing as well.
The smell is light, a mix of caramel and some roasted malts.
The taste is of roasted malt, somewhat like a good porter. Some strong caramel and brown sugar flavor. Is a bit creamy as well
This beer has a great feel to it, with a nice refreshing. crsip taste. It goes down easy and is pretty darn smooth.
