Kestral (191), Oslo, Norway Jul 24, 2009 Tap. Pours copper with a small white head that dissipates to a ring. Aroma is grassy, with caramel malt notes. Mine was a tiny bit skunked. Flavour is a bit fruitier than the nose, otherwise the same. Decent lager. A bit thin and flat carb. CUJO (339), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jul 19, 2009 A nice hoppy, full bodied yet easy to drink beer. This Sam’s tastes a bit more macro than the others to me... however still a well balanced beer with depth. Plenty of hops in the nose and initial tastes, offset by the sweetness of the obvious malts used. I get some fruits in the mouth as this beer warms up, no more than undertones but adds to the overall. Travlr (698), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jul 18, 2009 Plain, ordinary and boring. An average lager, some bitterness, but too thin. Not much finish. Forgettable. Flamojune (93), Ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada Jul 17, 2009 Une vrai bonne lager gouteuse malgré 4.8%. Belle couleur riche. Malté et rafraichissante. Petite hoppy finale. Hopper (271), San Antonio, Texas, USA Jul 16, 2009 An orange beer with a 2 finger head. Aroma is sweet malt with a decent balance of malt & hops. Has a small amount of bitterness for a lager. slitcher (87), Freeport, Illinois, USA Jul 15, 2009 Pours a light amber with a medium thick white head; nice lacing. Aroma of caramel and citrus. Nice balance between the sweetness of the malt and bitterness of the hops. Very drinkable and refreshing, but it seems to me this beer used to be hopier...Anyways, you really can’t go wrong with this as an every day beer. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jul 9, 2009 On tap at the Flying Saucer in KC and poured into the "perfect pint glass." Pours a cystal clear, copper-orange body with a steady rise of carbonation. A huge, two inch, billowing, creamy beige, extremely dense head that dissipates very slowly and leaves a fortress of lacing on the glass. This really looks gorgeous in their glass, maybe they were right about this thing. Aroma is very fruity for a lager with a nice malt backing. A soft floral hop aroma accompanies this well with a bit of a hay feel to it. Flavor is very nice for a lager as well. Sweeter, pale caramels with a light floral hop throughout that gives it just the right amount of bitterness. Maintains a nice amount of fruit throughout with an almost juicy finish. Nice, semi dry finish with a sweet lager yeast, malty, fruity bitterness that lasts for a moderate duration. Palate is medium to full, smooth, and very sessionable. Overall, I was pretty impressed with this lager. It definitely has to do with being on tap and poured into this "notorious" glass. In all honesty though, they made the glass for this beer and it seems to have worked well (or maybe my mind was already made up that it HAD to work well). Whatever, its a damn tasty lager. The rating is based on the style and occasion. jrallen34 (123), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 8, 2009 This is probably my least favorite Sameual Adams beer. Its just nothing special to me.
