m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA Aug 12, 2008 Pours with a clear amber hue with a very white foamey head. Aroma has some hay in it, with some sweet malt. The beer is slightly hoppy with a bit of tropical fruit scent in it.
Body is light to medium on the palate and the taste is malty, metalic on the finish and bitter. This flavor carries through from the beginning to the end of the beer. A pretty good mass-brewed lager indeed! kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2008 12oz draught. Pours a clear amber color with a white foamy head that diminishes quickly but still provides lacing on the glass. Aroma is grass, wheat, sweet malt, some hops. Flavor is about the same. A bit of funkiness and bittnerness on the finish, generally light bodied. Nik925 (300), California, USA Aug 11, 2008 Ordinary, Malt and Metal taste dominate. It tries, and very well might be the best lager in the grocery store, but still ends up being a boring lager. nbutler11 (729), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 11, 2008 Always seems to pour a reliable amber color from the tap or bottle with a trim white head of foam. Mild with hops and balanced with caramel. A good ballpark beer. NoiZe (1288), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands Aug 11, 2008 Tasted somewhere along my trip through the States.
Copper colored brew. Not very special, pretty decent lager though. GMUcrew7 (353), Mason, Ohio, USA Aug 9, 2008 On tap at my buddies wedding, this and Miller Lite, pretty easy choice. Sam Adams somewhat straddles the line between macro and craft brewery and this, their flagship brew, is a good beer. Nice and hoppy with a good sweet malt character for good balance make this an easy drinking lager. ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Aug 9, 2008 Updated: Aug 10, 2008$1.29 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Ah, BBC’s flagship brew! Pours a clear, copper body capped with a half inch of white foam. Fine, webby lacing on the way down.
Smell: Toasty, caramel-scented malt nose with a spicy, floral background
Taste: Toasted maltiness with a restrained caramel sweetness. Floral, lightly spicy Noble hops with a cleansing bitterness. Faint hint of fruit, particularly upon warming. Crisp, bittersweet finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Enjoyed many times over many years in various forms, Samuel Adams Boston Lager is always a tasty, light, refreshing lager easily within reach be it at concert venues, humble gas stations, or the dreaded Red Lobster. Blizzer34 (25), New Jersey, USA Aug 9, 2008 this is the famous samuel adams boston lager...its is excellent and there is nothing more to be said.
