joshiez (48), USA Jul 18, 2008 It’s good for a mass produced beer. My only real complaint here, is that sometimes...it tastes old....I’m not sure exactly what it is...but like...every third bottle tastes bad. But then, I’m drunk right now...so whatever! blklab2007 (938), Connecticut, USA Jul 18, 2008 bottle poured into a shaker has a light amber color and a 1/2 inch white head that stood up alright. aroma has malt, corn, sweetness, and a touch of hop bitterness when you search hard. mouth feel is light with plenty of carbonation. flavor has caramel malt, hops and bitterness more apparent, sweet but not too much so, and some grains. finish is carbonated with some lingering bitterness. love the commercial description "among the worlds most expensive hops costing 20 times as much as others" (psst, i think they got ripped off.) FunkyBrewster (437), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 18, 2008 Pours a dark golden brown color with a medium sized off-white fluffy head. Aroma is sweet malt and caramel, with some hop bitterness that is mildly apparent. Flavor starts out very sweet with even more caramel. The hops become more apparent through the finish and they even overtake towards the very end. They leave a bitter and pleasant flavor that lingers for a bit. Definitely a solid beer and still a good choice despite it’s size. Gypsy19 (603), California, USA Jul 16, 2008 A pleasant, non-offensive, politically-correct beer that’ll do in a casual situation where high-quality beer is not available. A little more hoppy than others in this style, and that is a pleasant surprise. Bitter too for a lager, also a plus. Other than that, nothing groundbreaking here, nothing out of the ordinary. Just drinkable, that’s all. emgesp (10), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Jul 15, 2008 Updated: Jan 4, 2009
Pours a nice light orange color, with a decent white head that leaves some good lacing.
Aroma is a hint of carmalized malt and noble hops.
Flavor starts of with sweet caramalized malts that ends with just enough hop bitterness. The hops come out very herbal and spicy. This lager is very different from what most of the people of the U.S. are used to.
Mouthfeel is a step-up from most American Lagers that seem more like water compared to this beer. Very clean finish.
Very solid beer that can be found pretty much anywhere. mwsmith (12), , Alabama, USA Jul 14, 2008 America’s saving grace. We put up with a lot of crap because of our beer, but I think Samuel Adams takes that edge off. hero12 (58), USA Jul 13, 2008 Updated: Oct 30, 2009Poured to a fairly thin white head and a dark golden color. Hoppy caramel aroma. Great malty flavor. Very smooth with just the right amount of carbonation. Great tasting beer. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 13, 2008 Golden color with a nice thick foamy white head that clings to the glass as it recedes. Nice hop nose and pale and caramel malts. Great flavor hints at the caramel with a noticeable but not overdone hop finish. A great beer for a borderline macrobrew. Although I prefer this in the bottle to the tap for whatever reason my tap experiences have been far harsher on the tongue, overly bitter and unpleasant.
