Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Pours a nice light orange color, with a decent white head that leaves some good lacing. Aroma is a hint of carmalized malt and noble hops. Flavor starts of with sweet caramalized malts that ends with just enough hop bitterness. The hops come out very herbal and spicy. This lager is very different from what most of the people of the U.S. are used to. Mouthfeel is a step-up from most American Lagers that seem more like water compared to this beer. Very clean finish. Very solid beer that can be found pretty much anywhere.

America’s saving grace. We put up with a lot of crap because of our beer, but I think Samuel Adams takes that edge off.

Poured to a fairly thin white head and a dark golden color. Hoppy caramel aroma. Great malty flavor. Very smooth with just the right amount of carbonation. Great tasting beer.

Golden color with a nice thick foamy white head that clings to the glass as it recedes. Nice hop nose and pale and caramel malts. Great flavor hints at the caramel with a noticeable but not overdone hop finish. A great beer for a borderline macrobrew. Although I prefer this in the bottle to the tap for whatever reason my tap experiences have been far harsher on the tongue, overly bitter and unpleasant.

As over-rated as they come. Bitter going down and leaves an aftertaste that is even more bitter. I’m not sure why people are sold on this beer. Maybe because of the American-made promotion. Presented it at a cookout and pretty much got booed off of the patio.

One of only few mass produced American beers worth drinking. Good, malty lager, nice bronze color, unique, bold, slightly roasted flavor. Very solid lager.

bottle.Light amber with light white lacing. This is a very nice consistent brew that offers a well malt to hop balance. Nice caramel malts with an piney floral bitter finish. Leaves me wanting another

Bottle: Light brown pour with a minimal head. Pretty much what a lager is suppose to taste like. Strong aftertaste of bitter hopps.
