Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Has a pretty nice slightly more orange than golden appearance. The Aroma hints at the hoppiness and yet draws you in. Flavorwise the hops bitterness hits you first, but the beer tastes very smooth, the aftertaste is mild and delightful. Overall a very good beer, one of my favorite store bought beers.

I tried Samuel Adams for the first time in New York in 2002, and whenever I drink it now, it brings me back to New York.
Appearance: Bronze, good head. Aroma: Nice and very fruity. Taste: Fruity and bitter. New York for me. Info: 355ml bottle, 18/9-2005, 20/300

Bottle. Poured a clear orange color with a nice off-white head. I thought it had a very hoppy aroma with obvious scents of floral and spices. The beer went down with a medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. I thought the beer had a nice bitterness to it giving it a hoppy flavor. Overall, I was impressed with this beer as I have not tried many lagers. This provides me with a nice option to the standard beers served in my local bars.

Bottle: One of my favorite everyday "no other decent craft brews available" lagers. Yeah it’s a little watered down compared to other micro brews, but nothing compared to the standard American light beers out there. You can actually smell and taste hops.

Usually the best beer at the bar, my favorite place is on tap at the Sam Adams bar at Logan Airport. More bitter than most national lagers, and only one finger of foam. Easy to find in a pinch if few options are present.

My favorite lager on tap if it’s cold and fresh. Pretty good from the bottle when poured in a pint glass. Nice color leaving lacing on the glass. Has a nice strong flavor too it unlike many of the bland domestic lagers in the U.S. giving it personality and something to remember.

light brown pour with one finger head, slight lacing. metallic aroma overwhelms anything else. taste is a bit acrid, but not watery like some macro lagers. One of my least favorite Sam Adams
