Underhook (162), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA May 17, 2008 Sweet, strongly citrus (lemon) nose on the beer right out of the bottle that gets me excited to taste the beer. Has a great look to it, golden brown with a white, frothy head that leaves a thick, solid lacing down the glass as I drink it. Taste is good but not as complex as a lot of other beers I’ve had. The hoppiness makes the beer, very strong hop flavor. Carbonation is present but not overwhelming. The strongest point of this beer is its availability- without it we’d be stuck with the token light beers at most mainstream restaurants. As a beer alone, I’d rank it in the lower threes. However, the Boston Beer Company gives me hope yet for macros- they have marketing on par with the watery, fizzy "light" crap produced by Coors, Miller, and Anheuser-Busch, but make a solid product that American beer drinkers can be proud of. That alone tilts the rating into the higher threes for me. btbullard (8), Fort Worth, Texas, USA does not count May 16, 2008 A truly great drink every day beer. If you open up a cooler at a BBQ and expect to grab some COORS swill and you pull out one of these instead; it’s just heaven to the taste buds.
Another plus: Most bars have this one. So when you’re at some martini bar, have the bartender toss you this lifesaver. rcasta (470), El Salvador May 15, 2008 no vale la pena mentir, la mayoria de cervezas huelen igual y el sabor es lo unico que las puede hacer sobresalir entre otras. samuel adams = overrated y + $ en anuncios vanrassel (30), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 15, 2008 I decided to revisit this beer after rating it eons ago on, ahem, the other site and found it stands up fairly well. It starts smooth with flavour from the Vienna malts and the Noble hops nicely balance them out with a slightly bitter, dry finish. Light body and tight carbonation contribute to a crisp, clean finish. fattibobatti (246), Tallahassee, Florida, USA May 13, 2008 i just typed in sam adams and noticed i had not rated a beer that i have had a million times. great beer because it is offered almost everywhere and has hops in the nose and in taste than other macros. full of flavor, clean and refreshing. Crafty07 (391), Florence, Kentucky, USA May 13, 2008 This best thing about this beer, without question, is it available nearly everywhere in the US. I laugh whenever I see the pathetic inundation of advertisment of anheuser-bushe nasty Budweiser as ’America’s Lager’ when it’s clear to many in my country that this caramel colored, malty, delicious ’premiumn’ is the best macro you can drink here.
Thank you, Boston Beer Company.
This company is proving a macro is not a four letter word. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 12, 2008 A great example of an American lager. A beer I will never refuse. Pours a bright golden colour with a large white head. Aroma is faint and fruity, with light malt character all the way through. Taste is full on the palate, not overly exciting, but refreshing. nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA May 12, 2008 A classic. Medium bodied, amber color with a frothy white head. Aroma is a balance of crisp hops and sweet malt. Flavor is the same, maybe a little more chewy malt than hops. Crisp, clean finish. The original craft beer?
