Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

12 oz bottle. I thought it was about time to rate this brew that gets talked about on commercials like its amazing, and I know that to be false. Emptying out the fridge for my move, and there is one bottle of this left from when I made some Patriots Sam Adams and Guiness, like a black and tan but worse. Pourse orange with a thin one finger white head. Aroma is macroish, smells like cheap beer, with a bit of hops thrown in. The taste is weak and slightly hoppy. Ehh.

Light coppery colored, little wihte head. Fruity aroma with mild hops, some dry tones also. Flavor is somehow "aleish": flowers, hops and fruits, aftertaste dries like in bitters. Thin to medium bodied, mild carbonation. Crispy brew.

Clear amber orange color, big rocky off-white head, some carbonation. Aroma is hoppy, but also caramel malty, some resin. Taste is dry hopbitter, caramel malty. Dry finish. This beer could use some refermentation in the bottle and then it would be a very nice belgian ale!

I have never been a fan of their "flagship" beer. Something just doesnt sit right. Dont get me wrong, it blows any macro brew out of the water...but I try not to drink this too much.

An excellent blend of hops and malt. One of the best readily available beers I’ve tasted. Rated in 2002 and still happy in 2006. This and SNPA are my casino beers too!

Thanks to its near total market saturation, this beer has many a-time saved me from having to drink bud/lite/coors in a hotel bar. I remember my first in 1989 in a bar beside Emory University. Caramel maltiness with a citrus undertone.

great aroma, not really strong enough but what we get is nice hoppy , lots of different flavors and some faint swetnenss. clear orange, large thick offwhite head. flavor is dry, hoppy, sligthly bitter, a little sweetness from malts, well balanced. but in my opiniion it could be stronger.
