Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

$1.29 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Ah, BBC’s flagship brew! Pours a clear, copper body capped with a half inch of white foam. Fine, webby lacing on the way down. Smell: Toasty, caramel-scented malt nose with a spicy, floral background Taste: Toasted maltiness with a restrained caramel sweetness. Floral, lightly spicy Noble hops with a cleansing bitterness. Faint hint of fruit, particularly upon warming. Crisp, bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Enjoyed many times over many years in various forms, Samuel Adams Boston Lager is always a tasty, light, refreshing lager easily within reach be it at concert venues, humble gas stations, or the dreaded Red Lobster.

The beer pours to a nice dull copper body with a rocky white head that disapates to a thin rocky film. So-so lacing. The aroma is caramel malts and has that corn aroma like New Glarus Spotted Cow. Cereals. The flavor is malty corn and bready cereals. This is pretty good for a Premium Lager. I could drink lots of this if stuck in a BMC bar that has this available. The palate is middle of the road. Decent mouthfeel but nothing exciting nor "easy-drinking". This is a well-made lager that tastes "good" for what it is.

Hoppy and a bit sweet/floral hops aroma. Light golden color. Nice white head that shrinks to a small lasting layer. Laces. Medium carb - creamy light body. Good amount of hops, not too heavy on the adjunct flavors. Nice bitterness about it from start to finish.

Bottle. Just another bitter lager for me. Had decent head that disappated and gave me somewhat of a bitter beer face to go with my burger.

Beautiful orange-red, with a tasty yet quick disappearing head. Very hoppy yet has a weak finish. Reminds me very much of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but not quite as strong or good.

This is a handsome beer: an inviting carmel color. Not much of a nose - dissappointed there. Smooth, light malt taste with a bitter finsih. Mailty and tart, but slighlty buttery. Kinda thin with a quick flavor profile. Not too complex, but balanced. Certainly approachable by the masses.

Golden brown in colour, strong in smell...mild taste with little to no aftertaste, but a good overall beer that you can find just about anywhere!

Caramel-amber colour with large, frothy head that held on for a while. Floral hops on the nose. Flavour is sweet, hoppy and tongue-tickling with a nicely malted body. The finish comes on strong with a dry hop character. Quaffing this out of the bottle on a summer afternoon, it's always struck me as a passable but unexciting beer, but giving it a proper tasting has made me realize that it's a really good brew with a lot of interesting qualities.
