Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Wow, a lot better than I expected. I bought a six of this stuff and I am going to enjoy every drop. Hoppy and floral aromas are abundant right when you open the bottle and pour this big boy into the glass. Body is a darker golden colour, with a medium sized white head. Tastes very hoppy, dry and bitter. nice bite in the throat as well. A great lager.

I usually find myself drinking this while out having a pizza or perhaps watching football. Whatever the case, this is usually a solid beer that is "blue collar" thru and thru. Aroma is citrusy and floral, but on a low scale and not like an IPA. Appearance is always the same, which is a nice amber color with visible carbination. Mouthfeel is full and smooth, which is nice. Flavor imparts some caramel, some roastyness, little hops and some malt. I also usually detect some astringency which makes it rate lower.

My first rating. Figured play it safe/with what I know. Pours amber with a thick head. Ok lacing. Strong hops taste with slight bitterness at the end. Always a standby in bars.

Great session lager. This beer truly allows the masses to begin the introduction to good beer and given many, myself included, the first taste of what a real beer can be.

(Bottle) Pours amber. Fresh hop aroma with some grassy and citrusy/lemon tones. Good malty profile. A bit creamy in the nose. Grassy, creamy flavour with with a crispy mouthfeel. Nice malty body and a good bitter ending. Small to medium body.

bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a lasting head. Plenty of malts in the aroma with a touch of corn and some slight really crisp hops. Watery mouth with a solid malt foundation, corn husks, bread, and some earth. I usually stay away from lagers, but this is one of the best ones I’ve had.

Bottle. Pours amber with a great head and lacing. The taste is strong bitter hops mixed with a nice malt. Nothing wrong with the Brewer/Patriot.

Bottle from my friend Dave at the pool. Best before November, it’s now September. After drinking a little from the bottle, I returned home and poured into a pint glass. 1" mixed medium-small bubble white head. Yellow-amber color. Corn, vegetable, skunky aroma, despite the brown bottle and freshness. The aroma gives me a headache. Flavor is light, a tiny bit sour, medium dry, and generally yucky. Marketed as a micro, but clearly its a BMC
