Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Haha. I love the snobs on here! This beer has nut and fruit flavors, is really well-balanced, and tastes great over and over. Anyone who doesn’t appreciate it is being a twat, "Oh, piff, a lager, well, it’s not nearly hopped enough, or burnt enough, or black enough, or heavy enough..." Haha, fuck you, snobs. Funny that you think you’re high-cultured when you can’t taste a good beer unless it smacks you hard in the face with an overkill of hops and alcohol. This is one of the best lagers I’ve ever had... nope it’s not a stout, or a trappist ale; it’s a lager, and can be appreciated on its’ own terms, unless you’re a smug fuckhead.

An excellent commercial lager. Better than any of the other big names out there. You can taste the quality in every bottle

I really enjoy this brew. Very distinct hoppy flavor. Has a bite to it. You know when you’re drinking a Boston Lager. Very well balanced flavor, with an almost piney afertaste. My favorite to get with a meal. A great beer for any beer lover.

I am biased with Sam since it brings back fond memories of a trip to Boston. Nice pour with moderate to light head, quickly dissipates. Flavor is always good with a smooth finish. It is not the worlds greatest beer, but for something nice to drink every day, it has my #1 vote.

A great, enjoyable beer for any occassion. Definitily one of the better american lagers you can readily find, way out of the league of Bud and others.

A lament O were that other USA mass produced beers would taste this good. Sam Adams Boston Lager ranks at the top ranks, good taste, great on the palate.

Poured from bottle into Summit Pint Glass. Shifts from amber to gold, depending on the lighting. Only a small head but nice lacing. Aroma of fruity and toasted malts with slight hop undertones. This is a full flavored, perfectly balanced lager. Toasted malts in the beginning which are quickly countered by noble hops. Ends somewhat bitter. Medium to high carbonation, with a medium body and semi-dry finish. Very, very sessionable. No wonder it became so popular. This was one of the first beers I enjoyed along with Bass (still like it but not as much) and Pete’s Wicked Ale (which has been ruined). However, I still enjoy this beer a lot, and actually don’t get upset that it is ALWAYS included in every Sam Adams sampler. This is usually my fall back beer in non-beer-centric restaurants and in airports. And you know what, I am always happy to have it.
