Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Delicious amber lager, hints of gladioli and mollasses start you off, leatherwood maltiness with light sourness that enhances the soft finish.Best North American drop I have tried by 1.6 kilometres. Well crafted. My bottle into the last month of shelflife and cost $2:85Australian, or $1.45US for 330mls.

Have only had this on tap. I’d probably be hesitant to try this in a bottle though. That aftertaste was a little on the bitter side, but that’s what makes drinking one before a meal so special. Smooth with alot of bite.

Excellent flavor although a little filling and a little grainy. Aside from those couple minor setbacks it’s a satisfying lager.

You know what the boston lager is great!!! Now I also know why Samuel Adams is such a popular beer out there. Great Taste, not overly bitter, well balanced flavorful beer. I'll definitely consume more SA's now. Wish I had bought their Christmas sampler which had both of these back in december 03 when I had the chance.

I drink this beer on tap only. The bottle doesn't do it justice. On tap, the foam is pure white and lingers in the glass until the last drop. Fresh Hops aroma comes out (just like a lager should). Easy to drink, the hops taste stays on the back palate and gives a nice after taste.
