Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

I do not generally like lagers. This one is definitely an exception, a little heavy, but oh so tasty. I love this stuff. Easy to get anywhere.. Easy to drink. Full of flavor. Nice full appearance.

The standard - this was my first love and continues to be the standby for me. Rich amber color, perfect head and perfectly balanced, crisp taste - an enjoyment on every occasion. I usually enjoy this on tap when I am out as most bars here in Florida have little else of interest - thus the standby calling - however this brew should not be taken for granted - its truly the greatest lager I have had and should stand alone in its own right - Cheers!

A great lager. I pick up some faint smokiness, which I like. It’s a great balanced beer. Nice hops. One of my favorite lagers for sure.

I love this beer for how well it performs compared to how much I pay for it. It has the quality of some german or U.K. brews, but costs a good bit less. Its just as thick, hearty, and tasty as many of the european beers, and reminds me alot of some of the ’Octoberfest’ style beers they sell from germany. These are not those super thick strong beers, but are a bit lighter than that, yet way heartier than beers like Bud and Fosters. I picked this beer last, since it seemed like the biggest seller, I assumed that meant it would taste the most like a mainstream beer such as Bud. I was wrong, this is one of my favorites, if not my very favorite from Samuel Adam’s beers.

This was the first American beer I had that didn’t taste like Budweiser. Quite an eye opener! Sure, there are better American beers out there, but this one’s got a special place in my heart! Rich & hoppy with some roasty notes.

One of the better American lagers I’ve tried. Nice robust body, good aromatic hops, well-balanced malts, and a pleasant palate. Unfortunately the overdone yeastiness detracts from the whole, making it less pleasant than it would be otherwise.

American beer with that European flavor. I can’t knock it...except for the price at my local Kroger’s..heck for a buck and half more I could buy serious imports. If you get the opportunity try this one on draught. It is twice as good.
