Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Had to re-rate this one. Maybe it was a frsh 6-pack, but I haven't enjoyed a beer this much in ages. Beautiful copper and a nice scent of floral hops. The taste was much fuller than I remembered and the flavour lingered. Went down smooth and had a really full - but not too bitter aftertaste. Check the label - if it's fresh, it's a winner!

A nice bronzed colour. A better lager, a bit lighter then most. As good as others, cheaper then some.

One of my absolute favorites to have with dinner. Fits any style of dinner. Very good allround beer.

Pours a light clear amber with a creamy ivory head. Very lacy all the way through the beer. Smells of hay, light apple, pale malt and hops. Tastes of mown grass. Fresh tasting is the only way I can describe it. Sweet apple flavors and lightly spicy. Mouthfeel is creamy and fizzy. Light-bodied. An understated hoppy aftertaste that slowly builds and rises on the palette. Very smooth, very drinkable. Still love this beer. It was my "gateway" beer to micros over 10 years ago. Probably still my favorite lager.

This is the beer that got the craft world going...yes there were others before it...but Jim took it to the next level and never looked back. An overall rating of 60 on this site shows the snobbishness’ that beer is becoming. Boston Lager has a great hop aroma, nice head when poured correctly and a great balance between hoppy and sweet. This is a very drinkable beer that should be enjoyed by all.

A great classic, never go wrong kind of beer. Has very similiar qualities to Brooklyn Lager. Nice hop after bite that mkaes this beer so distinctive. Microbrew history in a bottle or on draft - and thankfully mostly available everywhere!

Tap at Sidebar Århus. Very nice allmost creamy head. Wonderful dark amber colour. Perfect bitterness and malt sweet finish. Great lager! Only place in DK to serve it on tap: Sidebar.

This beer is never a letdown, though it does sort of vary from draft to bottle. This has some all day drinkability but the hoppiness may be a detriment to more than three.
