Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

So this was the first "high end" beer I ever had, and It was really what got me interested in the smaller craft brewers. I absolutly love the flavor of this beer, very well balanced and and smooth.

This is my default brew. Pours a nice amber color with some head and decent lacing. You can smell a mix of bread/citrus in the aroma. Medium body. The flavor is medium in terms of sweetness and bitterness. I find this to be a flavorful beer, yet not overpowering. Can’t go wrong with this brew!

This is what I think of when I think beer. Sam Adams is what planted the seed when I realized there was more to life than bud, miller, coors. Great balance of sweet malt and bitter hops...and what I really love about this beer is the delicious aftertaste - something so few beers can accomplish

America’s saving grace. We put up with a lot of crap because of our beer, but I think Samuel Adams takes that edge off.

I am really an import beer drinker, but this beer is exceptionally good. Every time I drink it I crave pretzels to go with it. Thank you for a great beer.

355ml bottle. Deep golden/orange colour, medium creamy white head with some lacing. Intense malty/toffee-ish aroma, very uncommon for a lager (nose is more like esb), Hops and sweet malts dominate the full, rich taste, plus stingy citrus notes. Agreeable lasting bitter finish. Oily mouthfeel, medium to active carbonation. Mui impressivo! Not at all the bland lager I was expecting. The best blond American beer I’ve tried, and by quite a margin!

Just wanted a solid beer for a sunday, and the crisp malt of this one went well with a hearty dinner. Very solid, an american lager that is excellent and surprising.
