Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

A great beer, but I initially overrated it. While they taste ’good’, they have too much of a ’medicine’ taste or microbrew taste to them that makes it a bit unnatural, good toffee flavored beer though, color is described well, it is quite original but is not a staple in a drinkers diet, just an occassional beer, too ’mediciny’ to drink very often.

Hands down my favorite beer to drink on a regular basis. I just can seem to get past it when I’m pushing my cart through the walk-in cooler at the grocery store. I always drink this one from a pint glass to savor the aroma.

This is a great american beer that is readly available throughout the U.S in bottle or draft. I believe the draft is smoother. Great amber color with a rich flavor. This beer is a good one to keep on hand when having people over.

Samuel Adams Boston Lager 24 oz bottle Recent bottling, appreciated 09/06 Medium pour in a pilsner glass Poured copper bronze with a 1/2 white mostly diminishing white frothy head. Smelt of dark bready malts and soft citrus hops. Taste was upfront medium piney bitter hops and very slightly citrusy as well, with the follow through a bit like sweet dark bread melding with the remaining bitter hoppiness for a pleasant lingering finish. Mouthfeel was medium and dry with lively carbonation. Overall, in my humble opinion, the best mass-marketed lager on the american market, an serves as a great entry point to the world of beer to the unitiated cheap american pilsner drinkers.

Everything good and noble about American beer can be applied to Boston Lager. This darkish lager plays Grey Goose to Budweiser’s Popov.

One of my all time favorites! A huge fan of anything made by the Boston Beer Company! This lager is so good, most of my foreign friends drink and enjoy it! Outstanding hop aroma and flavor, one of the freshest tasting beers available. Excellentt maltiness comes through on every sip, counterbalanced extremely well by the pleasant bitterness. Creamy head that you can stand your beer cap on! An excellent world class beer!

12 oz bottle. Copper in color with a nice long lasting head. Aroma of citrus hops balanced by a sweetness of malts. When you smell it you know it is Boston Lager. Body is crisp and firm . Nicely balanced in flavor, with citrusy hops slightly dominate over malts. Just perfect but highly underrated lager.
