Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

A gold amber body with a bone white head. Aroma has a sweet nectar smell. Has a honey and nectar flavor with a decent maltiness supporting it. I buy a 12 pack occasionally cuz its only $9 and is a quality beer to toss back on the palate while doing the trick.

Has a pretty nice slightly more orange than golden appearance. The Aroma hints at the hoppiness and yet draws you in. Flavorwise the hops bitterness hits you first, but the beer tastes very smooth, the aftertaste is mild and delightful. Overall a very good beer, one of my favorite store bought beers.

I love the amber color, the sweet spicy aroma and taste, I love the way this feels in my mouth and I love the hoppy finish. I try to keep some of this on hand at all times, sort of my workhorse brew.

On tap at the Flying Saucer in KC and poured into the "perfect pint glass." Pours a cystal clear, copper-orange body with a steady rise of carbonation. A huge, two inch, billowing, creamy beige, extremely dense head that dissipates very slowly and leaves a fortress of lacing on the glass. This really looks gorgeous in their glass, maybe they were right about this thing. Aroma is very fruity for a lager with a nice malt backing. A soft floral hop aroma accompanies this well with a bit of a hay feel to it. Flavor is very nice for a lager as well. Sweeter, pale caramels with a light floral hop throughout that gives it just the right amount of bitterness. Maintains a nice amount of fruit throughout with an almost juicy finish. Nice, semi dry finish with a sweet lager yeast, malty, fruity bitterness that lasts for a moderate duration. Palate is medium to full, smooth, and very sessionable. Overall, I was pretty impressed with this lager. It definitely has to do with being on tap and poured into this "notorious" glass. In all honesty though, they made the glass for this beer and it seems to have worked well (or maybe my mind was already made up that it HAD to work well). Whatever, its a damn tasty lager. The rating is based on the style and occasion.

Bottle. The flavor is full, rich and not too overpowering. Considered my "go to" beer. You can’t go wrong with a Sam Adams Lager for most occasions. It goes very well with most foods too.

Color is red and yellowish gold, clear amber. Smell is caramel with a hint of grain and hops. The taste is a bit sweet at first and then a bit bitter once it rolls around on your tongue. Nice toasty malt taste. Smooth drinkability. Well balanced. This is a beer I have often and is one of the best beers to have with a meal as well. Serving type: bottle

This is a standby for me as I drink this quite often. A nice hop flavor with malts also in the mix. A good all around brew.
