Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Bottle. Great balanced beer with nice hops and malts. I prefer this beer on draft as I feel I get to experience the flavors even more so. Easy to find and is a good selection when there isn’t anything new and exciting to try.

Had this fresh from the tap at the brewery, and it was great. My first time ever having it, and it couldn’t have been more fresh. Not a beer I could drink a lot of, had a bit of a bitter finish, but it was enjoyed nevertheless.

Bottle. Rich golden pour and a nice head. Nice light aroma with a hint of hops. Crisp, refreshing and very palatable beer. The beer also has a smooth finish which makes it a good candidate for drinking a few at a sitting. There’s good reason this became the macro micro.

Samuel Adams is definately one of the best beers around. The color is a deep amber, it looks delicious. The taste is smooth and has hints of sweetness in the aroma. Frankly, I have to say that this beer tasted liked beer. It tastes the way that everybody has in their head as the way beer is supposed to taste like. A great beer by the makers of great beer, I enjoy many of Samuel Adams’ products, it can be said that I am a Samuel Adams guy.

This has to be my favorite session lager. Always plenty of head. Decent malty aroma. Easy on the palate with a fair smack of hops and plenty of malty goodness to back it. Yum.

A lot of malt aroma and taste. Not very hoppy. Head retention pretty good. For a mass produced beer, it’s one of the best. This is the beer that got me into real beer.

This really is a premium lager. It pours a bronze-gold colour with a foamy white head. I’ve always heard plenty about a Sam Adams, but never had one before. I thought it was a perfect blend between a hoppy ale and a light lager.

This is a standby for me as I drink this quite often. A nice hop flavor with malts also in the mix. A good all around brew.
