Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Crystal clear light copper body and I got me a massive 2” crown with good retention and large bubble creators are forming on top, lacing is roapy and ample very nice looking lager. Decent dark hop aroma with a hint of Euro lager, grass clippings and maybe some corn. Nice hop bite in this brew way more then you’d expect from a lager. Lots of rich toasted malts that have a caramel flavor this shows up when brew starts to warm, has a bit of a bready finish. This is a great lager high quality complex and easy to drink. My marks seem to high but for the style it’s worth it.

This is the beer that started it all for me. I rate my beers on a scale from 1-10. This scale’s different but I like it. Sam Adams Boston Lager is a 7 out of 10 on my scale. I have a LOT of respect for it as it’s my first REAL beer I’ve ever had. Good stuff! I will always LOVE Sam Adams. They’re my favorite brewery. I guess I’m a little biased, being from Mass.

Usually the best beer at the bar, my favorite place is on tap at the Sam Adams bar at Logan Airport. More bitter than most national lagers, and only one finger of foam. Easy to find in a pinch if few options are present.

bottle. Poured clear dark amber with a thin white head. Nice fruity hop aroma. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Malty flavor with notes of sweet carmel and orange citrus. Semi-dry finish.

This a beer that one can drink any time of the year. Darker than most lagers, this beer has a myriad of complex aromas and taste. The thick head stays around from start to finish. One of the best American beers brewed today.

Orange-amber pour into a thin off-white frothy head which mostly dissipates. Lively carbonated bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass pooling into light lacings that hang on the glass. Aroma of roasted caramel malts and toasted wheat bread that balance with hints of piney hops and sweet citrus. Initial flavor of malty sweet bread which quickly fades into light hoppy bitterness.

This is the first american crafted beer available in Quebec Imaginary Country. Good thing, Lord SAQ. Let’s hope it is just a beginning... Very interesting hopping, with pretentious hophead-inflated subtilities. Notes of caramel and slightly fruity, pretty dry finish and lasting quite bitter finish. A good beer, for sure, shyly rated here...

Hands down the best mass produced domestic beer. Unlike other "lagers" that are produced in the USA, this one actually has some substance. Full bodied, aromas of spices, hops, a hint of malt. Pours deep tawny brown, great head. It’s a quality beer, no doubt about it.
