JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 23, 2006 Copper color with medium head. Malty aroma and a solid lager taste to match. Surprised that I hadn’t rated this one, and I have to say this stuff still holds up. Its not flashy and you can get it anywhere, but like many other people, Sam Lager was one of my first craft beers and its still pretty good.
bulldogops (154), Alberta, Canada Nov 10, 2009 Bottle. 4.8%. Clear amber pour with a weak white foam that bubbles away quickly. Aroma is hoppy, sweet caramel and roast malts. Taste disappoints quickly. UNbalanced, the super bitter hop bite starts early and lingers, with no delicate sweetness, or anything else of interest. Just lip-pursing bitterness and a weak malty kick. While drinkable, and probably palatable for hopheads, this beer fails to impress, and is rather boring. Yves (989), Beerse, Belgium Nov 7, 2009 Amberish coloured beer with small white head and medium carbonation. Hoppy sweet aroma. Full palate. Finish is hoppy though nicely balanced. alagnak (300), Littleton, Colorado, USA Nov 6, 2009 Draft @ ONT airport. Pours pretty nice dark amber, nice floaty head. Nose is a little weak, some maltiness, but not much else. Flavor is caramelly barley to start, with a nice dry hoppy bite to the finish. Very drinkable. Pretty decent. TeamTrappist (367), jericho, New York, USA Nov 2, 2009 Bottle. This often is a fall back when I’m in a restaurant and there is nothing else. Pours a medium clear amber with a very thin head. Light malt nose. Decent body with a sweet hop flavor and a malty finish. Acceptable when really fresh, otherwise blah. Snot19kilo (81), Oakwood, Illinois, USA Nov 2, 2009 Amber in color,Aroma is slight malt a hint of citrus and all hops. Flavor was all hops as well a complex taste of multiple hops and and underlining barley taste. Strong bitter beer. in a good way. dry, and some bitter in the finish. floydian1 (257), FNQ, Australia Nov 1, 2009 355ml bottle into pilsner glass. A clear copper-golden beer with a medium off white head that provides decent lacing. Malty aromatics with notes of toffee and citrus fruits. Thickish palate with a subtly sweet caramel malt backbone before finishing with a resinous dry hop presence that lingers long in the mouth. Very well balanced flavours. Good stuff. halfonit (423), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA Oct 31, 2009 Clear dark amber color. Aroma is of barley malts, hops, and pine hops as well. Taste is a more hoppy lager than normal. It has a pine undertone. Aftertaste is a little bitter, yet crisp. Bitzybrew (28), New York, New York, USA Oct 31, 2009 Definitely drinkable. Not the most full flavored amber lager that I’ve had, Maybe if I had the boston lager glass, my impression would change.
