JB175 (1642), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 23, 2006 Copper color with medium head. Malty aroma and a solid lager taste to match. Surprised that I hadn’t rated this one, and I have to say this stuff still holds up. Its not flashy and you can get it anywhere, but like many other people, Sam Lager was one of my first craft beers and its still pretty good.
osu97gp (133), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 2, 2009 Pours a clear golden color with a white head. Very slight aroma of malts and some citrus. Flavor is very sweet with a slight hint of floral hops. Okay beer. monkeychugg55 (112), Joliet, Illinois, USA Jul 1, 2009 Pours a clear copper with a small white head that doesn’t last long, but leaves a little lacing. Aroma of sweet, toasted, biscuit and cereal malts and a slight citrus note. Aroma is similar, more malty than hoppy. Good finish, decent drink. beerfest5 (83), Simsbury, Connecticut, USA Jun 30, 2009 a classic in new england. easy to drink, easy to enjoy, like the commercial says, always a good idea. Tejas (650), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 27, 2009 i haven’t entered this? wow. oh well. i just remember when i first drank this years ago and it was super fresh on draught, i really liked it. i’ve had it since but mainly in bottles and it’s very avg but drinkable. probably won’t drink again though uinless there’s nothing else around now that my palate is where it is. Vertical Bacon Strips (581), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 27, 2009 Poured out a disappointingly small white head but I know in the past the pour has been better. Clear light amber brew with slippery lacing. Aromas of slight caramel and toasted malts, mixed citrus and a touch of cooked vegetables - comes across quite fresh. Taste is decent and mild with some caramel and maybe bread, citrus and a touch of peppery spice. It’s all just one big mashed up flavour. More cooked vegetables. The main difference between the taste and the aroma is the aroma is sweeter and the taste has a larger hop presence. Mouth feel is quite light and airy with a big carbonated swish and light to medium light bodied. Finishes dull with a bit of lingering bitterness. Lagunitasfan (322), San Diego, California, USA Jun 26, 2009 12 oz bottle after working in the yard. Golden amber and big head. Thick. Sweet floral, sugar, fruity, and hops. Was just fine on a hot afternoon. DeadGuyPerez (9), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jun 25, 2009 Strong but pleasant aroma, great hoppy flavor and bitter finish. Very robust. CanIHave4Beers (561), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jun 23, 2009 Updated: Jun 24, 2009Really? I haven’t rated Boston lager yet? Huh? Pours a deep gold with a nice effervescence and a big fluffy white head. Aroma is really good, fruity and hoppy, some mild malt graininess, in a good way. Flavor has that nice fruity hoppiness, plenty of bitterness, once again a bright almost grainy maltiness. Mild roasty and caramel characteristics are playing around in the background, but from day one the hoppiness of this beer has always been what dominates the flavor, I really enjoy this one from time to time.
