That’s right, that’s not a typo, this summer beer is in a winter pack. Pours a hazy golden color and a one inch white head that retains for about 12 seconds before receding to oblivion. The aroma is dusty and lite, exhibiting plenty of citrusy lemon notes. Flavors are similar: lemon peel, grains, and other citrus. Medium carbonation and lite/watery body. This is a refreshing beer but I’m still wondering what it’s doing in a winter pack.

Medium bitterness in taste. Palate medium to light body, thin feel, lively carbonation, bitter, long finish. I find it overall a somewhat muted sensory experience, which is great when that it what the day calls for. Codythegreat (146), Carrollton, Georgia, USA

A very good choice Silphium (2139), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 16, 2009 Hazy yellow-orange body, thin off-white head. Nose of tangy wheat, hay/wet grass, biscuit, and citrus. Biting, sharply carbonated body, with grassy wheat and lemon notes. Fairly dry; nothing cloying about the citrus or the yeast. One of those "it’s alright" beers. Swalden28 (1512), McKinney, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with white head. Aroma of wheaty malt and lemon. Flavor is very much the same....Very faint hints of banana. Mouth feel is light-medium body with high carbonation. Overall, I can see myself enjoying one down by the pool which makes it odd that this was a winter release....None the less, it is tasty. gringo332 (242), Richardson, Texas, USA

My guess is that they had some left over summer beer to get rid of. Not a very good Hef. A bit of an alcohol flavor to me. mike67 (81), , New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 14, 2009 12 oz. bottle, from the Samuel Adams Winter Variety Pack (why have they replaced Black Lager from the pack beats me).
Hazy golden pour with a foamy (wheat ale type) head. Aroma of citrus, sweet malt with some yeast and hops. Medium, crisp, sweet body. Sweet malt and citrus fruit fills the mouth. Finish becomes tart at the end. Drinkable, but Sam Adams can do better.
