jehoey (715), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 20, 2008 Aroma is big coffee and roasted malts. pours black with a tan head. flavor is all the notes of coffee comming together with stout, but in a kind of shallow way. Like most sam adams beers it just lacks depth somewhere, clean flavor that are what they are. earthy and somewhat dry from the coffee. I liked it though I probably wouldn’t buy it, its the one I voted for.

Pours black with brownish head.
Aroma was filled with coffee, espresso.
Taste of good roasted coffee malts, a really ncie offering by Sam Adams, hoping this one makes it on the shelves.
Lots of coffee, but lacking something else to make it really stand out from the rest. nqualls (422), Tennessee, USA Sep 18, 2008 The second sample at the Music City Brewers Fest. Aroma of coffee and bitter chocolate with roasted malt. Flavor was malty with a good coffee flavor. Not too much of a bitter finish. DragonStout (1183), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 12, 2008 Sampled at the Winking Lizard in Columbus. This was the 2nd offering in the national voting taste test to see which beer Sam Adams will brew next.By far this beer is delicious.Poured black with a khaki head. The nose was of fresh brewed coffee with lots of roasted coffee flavor. The bitterness was mild as it finished. jbuzz (513), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 8, 2008 SAmple at Three Cellers Milwaukee.
Not bad i found it to be a little watery. Light on the malt and chocolate end. I would by if it goes into public sales kiefdog (476), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 31, 2008 Sampled a recent trip to the brewery. Pours a dark brown to black with a thin tan head. Some glass lacing. Aroma is roasted sweet malts, coffee, some chocolate, maybe hints of toffee. Flavor is also decidedly coffee, but not as bitter as some stouts have a tendency to be. Sweet malty and chocolate notes emerge throughout tasting. Generally full-body with some nice lingering, coffee notes on finish. We split our votes with one for the witbier and one for the stout as we liked both.
