An amber beer with a small head. The aroma is very alcoholy & sweet, Wow all I can smell is just a heavy alcohol smell & absolutely nothing else, nothing but alcohol, no malt ,nothing but alcohol. The taste is guess what? Alcohol. An alcohol boozy taste with some maltiness. Am I the only one missing something here on this beer because everyone gives it an average rating & say they taste this & that but all I taste is alcohol & as I finished it it got more unpleasant. Blah an unpleasant drinking experience.

9th June 2008. Nice smooth beer. Lots of smooth malt. Not much else going on but that’s okay.

12 oz bottle - pours a reddish copper color with a decent off white head. Plenty of caramel malt aroma with some fruit notes and sugar. Sweet, malty taste with a caramel, toffee and sugary finish - and hints of the plentiful alcohol hidden behind all of that. Solid brew.

Bottle [12oz]. Pours a deep amber with orange hies and a small diminishing off-white head. Sweet aroma of dark fruit, sweet malt, nuts, caramel and some alcohol. Flavour, also somewhat sweet, of alcohol foremost followed by sweet malt, brown sugar, caramel, nuts and dark fruit. Medium bodied. Not bad, it’s a bit boozy but I’d drink it again.

The color is deep ruby red. Very little head. Hazy yet shiny and glassy. The look (misleading as it may be) points to that of a winter ale. A vague smell of mild barley. Only a hint of a pale-smelling malt. An undefinable sweet berry aroma. Weak, yet still a bit saccharine. Very sweet initial taste of cherry, but then a darker, more burnt berry. Dark but with a Nutra-sweet finish. Not my cup of tea. A double winter ale, with a slight Belgian ale/spicy finish. There is a mild bite on the way down. Spicy and bubbly. LIke the feel of Coca-Cola. The flavors in this beer skew too much toward pucker, winter ale sweetness. Not bad... just not my style.

Clear dark caramel, sticky head of sandy tinted foam. Bing cherry, dark rum and golden raisin aroma. Sweet white sugar caramel leads to a too strong alcohol bite. Finishes as rum soaked charcoal. Caramel sweetness is released greatly after a bit of warming up to become a very nice amped up doppel.

12oz bottle via Hagen. Pours a dark copper with a small beige head. Nose is fusel alc and fruity esters. Taste is the same as the smell, starts with some sweetness and fruitnessness, then toffee, and lots of fusel alcohol and is hot. I would think this is 13%, not just 8.8%... Carbonation is miedium, body is medium to full.

12oz bottle. caramel color, thin head. very sweet caramel aroma. first taste is VERY sweet caramel, a little over powering. a few sips and a little warming seemed to take the sweet edge off some. finish is a little better, warming alcohol, evening out a bit.
