This is a fairly dry dunkelweizen. Not a really sweet example. Straightforward yeasty and spiced. I prefer mine sweeter. Still not bad.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Bottle. Poured a medium brown in color with a small head that diminished rapidly with virtually no lacing. The aroma was that of cloves and raisins with the scent of grainy malts and an earthy yeast odor. It tasted a little acidic and sweet with a mild bitter aftertaste that only lasted a little while. Mouthfeel was smooth, dry and medium bodied. Overall a tasty but average brew. yesyouam (602), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Nov 7, 2009 Samuel Adams Dunkelweizen is a cloudy tawny beer with a thin, dense, off white head that has outstanding retention and lacing. It smells spicy and a little sweet, with notes of clove, pear and raisins. It’s medium bodied with a metallic feel. The finish is quick and a bit gritty. It has a mellow flavor of banana and pear, with a light, grassy bitterness. It seems like it will get sweet, but it doesn’t. The aftertaste is musky. It’s not bad. BrewingFan (77), Texas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 6, 2009 Smooth and refreshing, but lacks complexity I look for in a traditional german beer. Aroma was weak, with hints of clove and malt. Smooth, yet a bit on the watery side. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA
