SturmWulf (63), USA Feb 13, 2008 Fantastic aroma of milk chocolate, caramel, dark chocolate and a very light smoke. It poured a beautiful dark mahogany, with a large, foamy head that is very light tan in color and lasted long. Left a lot of lacing. A fantastic taste of dark chocolate, followed by a touch of caramel, then lots of milk chocolate with a very light touch of smoke. Full bodied, with a creamy thick texture. Average carbonation with a slightly bitter smoke finish with chocolate mixed in. I served this in a Pint at 45 degrees. I am a Porter and especially a Stout fan and this is one of the best Porters I’ve had. It is one excellent job by Samuel Adams. If you like Porters that are chocolate flavored you will love this one. If you like your Porters more bitter, you may or may not like this one. I loved it and will definitely have again. Definitely a favorite!!!
GlassBrass440 (2), Rockford, Illinois, USA does not count Nov 30, 2008 Deep, dark redish-brown color with a thin, dark tan head that reminded me of the crema off a shot of espresso. The coffee theme carried itself through with the aroma where it was joined by chocolate. Very smooth on the tongue. Tastes of creamy chocolate and vanilla. Dry finish that leaves you urning for another sip. Most definitely my favorite Sam Adams yet. yesyouam (388), Fairport, New York, USA Nov 30, 2008 Samuel Adams Holiday Porter is a very dark and dim red-brown ale with a frothy, splotchy, light brown head with excellent retention and lacing. It has a roasty chocolate and coffee aroma. In the mouth, it’s a fluffy, medium bodied beer with a dry finish. It has a simple, balanced, roasty flavor. I love beers like this. Unique69crazy (118), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Nov 29, 2008 Rich, tart, bitter taste when this goes down. Coffee aroma with a small brownish head. Pours very dark and suits very well for a relaxing night at home. elgavilancillo (50), South Gate, California, USA Nov 28, 2008 from the holiday classics box dark brown light chocalate and caramel aroma and taste was smooth love it nice brew to drink after a hard working day enjoy rkuhnel (1192), Eureka, California, USA Nov 27, 2008 From the Sam Adams Holiday Classics box, this poured from a 12 oz bottle a garnet color with small off-white head and light lacing. Nose of light roasted malts adn some chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is again of burnt malts with some bitterness. Slightly bitter finish. OK, but not great.
