sfontain (496), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 16, 2007 Very dark garnet color. Lovely frothy, tan head, and medium to heavy lacing. Aroma of roast, chocolate, caramel, and raisin. Flavor is pretty roasty with little else going on; some chocolate and perhaps just a tiny hint of coffee; finish is bitter enough to stand up to the malt. Medium-thick body and quite sticky on the list. A little unremarkable but really a drinkable stout. Solid.
arventresca (121), Greenville, North Carolina, USA Jul 14, 2008 Bottle. Black with a reddish hue. Smell of sweet hops. You can taste a hint of honey in the roasted malt flavoring. I actually like this one the best of all the Sam Adams specialty beer. gkao007 (17), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA Jul 14, 2008 You can get a hint of the honey when you stick your nose in the beer... But I wasn’t overly satisfied with the product. Perhaps i’m just not a fan of Honey with a Porter. Nothing extraordinary here for me. unixrab (13), USA Jul 14, 2008 Coffee and Cola with a sweet nose, one of the first porters I’ve ever liked straight off. mwsmith (12), , Alabama, USA Jul 14, 2008 I was excited when I opened the bottle, because the aroma is sweet and promising. I’m sure that some might enjoy this beer but it wasn’t for me. The after taste was clinging in the back of my throat after each swallow, and wasn’t the tasty honey flavor I desired. GMUcrew7 (152), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 12, 2008 Pours dark brown with a hefty tan head. Aroma is mostly roasted malts. The flavor is ok, weak roasted malt flavor followed by a nice honey sweetness. Has a nice sticky palate and the head leaves a nice lacing behind as well. Overall the sweet honey finish saves what would otherwise be a very forgetful porter.
