Rastacouere (5201), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Feb 21, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A very, very sweet porter made with heather honey.
I like:
The idea. Firm lasting beige head. Clean. The honey seems tasty in itself.
I dislike:
Kinda exagerated I find. I realize this was their objective, but it just comes across as a very sweet porter. Not very pleasant drinking. The finish is all in sweetness, no hops or roast to dry it out. They claim the honey balances out the hops and roast. That’d need to be switched around. Besides, the basic porter is simplistic. Tasty, but not very pleasant. CaptainCougar (4599), Rockville, Maryland, USA Aug 17, 2007 Pours a barely transparent dark amber mahogany with a well-lacing frothy, airy tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty caramel malt and some authentic earthy English hops. Body starts a little thin and caramely sweet with a touch of milk chocolate and honey before a more bitter earthy finish. Fairly true to style and a decent porter.
