DYCSoccer17 (2009), Davis, California, USA Jun 1, 2008 6 ounce pour from a bottle at the Davis Beerfest. Aroma is mostly sweet and sugary with the honey notes. There is a light chocolate aroma present if you can get through the massive sweet notes. Transparent mahogany body with a light tan head and pretty nice lacing. Chalky, roasty, chocolate flavors come through. Finishes a bit dry due to the honey. Pretty flavorful, and thankfully not as sweet as the aroma suggests.
ewestern (62), Ohio, USA Aug 17, 2008 Nice dark brown pour. Aroma was pretty much just honey. Flavor was a nice coffee honey mix. Smooth medium bodied beer with a slight bitter finish at the end. My biggest complaint with this beer is it actually seemed to get worse as it warmed up a bit. NomDeBeer (129), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 11, 2008 Drinkable but uneventful I don’t see myself revisiting this. Very similar to Sam Adams’ Brown Ale. johnnyoski (20), Macomb Township, Michigan, USA Aug 10, 2008 12oz bottle: Pours a light black color with an off-white head. Nice ruby glow against the light which also reveals some particles. Sweet smell evident before even putting my nose in the glass. Honey roasted malty aroma. Nice initial sweet roasted malt taste, hints of honey and chocolate. Bitter at the end with a bit of a strange aftertaste. Nice different offering. timsilvia32 (183), born in Michigan, North Carolina, USA Aug 4, 2008 Brown/black pour. A fairly standard porter with a little honey near and at the finish. A solid medium body. The hops help finish it a bit bitter and clean. Once again not bad for being mass produced. I think some of these ratings are low just because of that fact. Beershine (1207), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 4, 2008 Bottle. Mainly opaque dark brown with a reddish tint and a tan aerated head. Slight honey, vanilla cola, slight diacetyl. Thin, fizzy, gassy. Flavors beat the aromas. Nice roasted malt aftertaste following a not-to-sweet hint of honey. A little burnt in the finish. Decent supermarket beer. Much better as it warms up.
