Commercial Description:
A full-bodied English-style Porter, this brew has a substantial roasted malt character. Brewed with traditional English Ale hops and sweetened with Scottish heather honey. The honey balances the spiciness from the hops and the roasted malt character. The beer is finished by dry hopping with English Goldings.

This beer made me realize that I dont give myself enough credit for my homebrews. If this is the great beer they chose to brew, then I am screwed. I am ashamed to say I have stock in S.A. with this beer. Color and pour are pretty but thats it. Its like someone POURED honey into my pint glass of porter. The balance they claim is just not there. Just an odd conglomerate of ingrediants Look just because something is different doesnt mean its good..

Poured from bottle. Dark color with ruby overtones. Strong honey scent immediately evident. Taste is a bit floral and sweet, with slight hop bitterness underneath. Sweet malty/honey aftertaste, which I liked quite a bit. Will definitely buy again.

Pretty darn good for a Sam Adams- this once again has a glorious powerful aroma with a very weak body. Smell is of sticky caramel and roasted malt, like Ironbeer, the Cuban soda. Body is thin and flavor is weak, too. Watery and more like black lager. Bottle from Total Wine and More, Naples florida.

Bottle, bought @ SuperBrugsen, Bramdrupdam.
Pours chestnut brown with a fine, big, creamy, beige head. Aroma is mild, roasted, some sweetness, light vegetable and heather honey. Highish carbonation, fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has clear honey, roasted malts, dark chocolate. Good grainy, cocoa-like dryness in the finish. Perhaps the honey notes are just a bit too much for me?

Filtered dark brown. Some head. Definate honey aroma. Sweet roast, some water aftertaste. Bitter roast in aftertaste. Full body, some fizz. Quite ok. Purchased in SuperBrugsen, Halmtorvet.

Dark rich amber color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of malt and spice; Flavor of sweet roasted malts, caramel, and fruit - some honey overtones; Not an everyday beer - but I do like it.

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home.
Clear medium to dark red brown color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, light hoppy, light to moderate honey, light licorice. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20090713]

355ml bottle from CinnamonGirl, thanks. Dense, tan-beige head covering a deep, rosewood body. Lacework on the glassware. Smell of roasted dark malts. Dark honey in flavour with roasted malts beneath. Spicy acidity to a short-lived ending. Soft in the mouth and a bit watered. Halfway pleased (shared with Eva at home, Tromsø 16.10.2009).

0.355 l bottle from Systembolaget. Dark ruby color with creamy head. Sweet honey and Goldings hop aroma with caramel and chocolate in the background. Sweet honeyish, floral and slightly fruity flavor with Goldings hops and some chocolate. I wish this was more toasty and roasty, more porter like. It would bring balance and complexity.
